Artist Statement

I am a multi-disciplinary artist and art educator serving in Fort Worth. I create ceramics, paintings, drawings, linocut prints and etched prints for your home and workspaces. My art draws inspiration from nature, traveling to uninhabited places, and the souls I have been fortunate to meet along the way. You will find a strong influence in my work from scientific illustration, art nouveau, and art deco. I get lost in clay mud by building up copious amounts of ornamentation, line and color. When working in 2D media, my artwork features many of the same elements with added components of the human figure, emotional connections, emotional experiences and memory as narratives. I create to appreciate the world around me and showcase people, places, creatures and the living world in a more purposeful and intentional light. I hope you find as much joy in my art as I do.

Family commission: A portrait of a young girl with dark skin and long blue braided hair, wearing an orange shirt, smiling with flowers falling around her against a pink background.

I attended the University of Texas at Arlington to earn my BFA in Art Education. During this chapter, I took several painting and drawing classes that brought art to my heart in a concrete and permanent way. I may spend more of my time working with clay these days but, I will forever love oil paintings. There are a few watercolors, acrylic paintings and drawings peppered into my portfolio as well.
